How Long Does it Take to Become a Vet Tech?

In Missouri, it can take 2-4 years to attend a vet tech school. Graduates are eligible to sit for state boards that would provide them a license. What most people don't know is that vet assistants aren't that different. They can do nearly everything a licensed vet tech can but with less schooling and for a fraction of the cost of a vet tech school.

How Much Do Vet Assistants Make?

The average veterinary assistant salary in the US is $31,567 per year (glassdoor.com). On the high end of the spectrum, some vet assistants make as much as $42,000 per year. This average is only $1 per hour less than a licensed vet tech which requires a person to go to school for at least two years.
